After visiting the city of dragons, Ljubljana we continued our adventure in Budapest. We arrived in the city in the late afternoon. After taking a stroll at the riverside we ate a nourishing meal of Langosh. With a full belly we headed into the nightlife of Budapest. We drank wine with some lovely South Africans, went past Karaoke bars and ended up in a mosh pit on the rock floor of one of Budapest biggest clubs… The night was a success
The next morning, we went on the quest to find the filming locations of Shadow and Bone. For this we hiked up daring mountains, climbed walls and slashed through deep forests… We found one location. The rest is “under construction”. But we had nice views. During this daring quest, we also saw Buda castle and the Matthias church but that was of secondary priority. Far more important was that we had strudel filled with cabbage for lunch (for more see section for hobbits). In the afternoon we followed a local NPC around to learn more about the history of Budapest and Hungary. We were shocked to see the transilvanian flag, which swayed in the wind in front of the Hungarian parliament. But the local NPC assured us that that is in fact not a political statement… For dinner we ate typical Hungarian food (Gulash soup) and went to bed.
New day, new quest! We set out to find whoever had the power to grand us access to the sleeping quarters on the transport to our next location. After successfully accomplishing that we made our way to Vajdahunyad castle. It is very important that you pronounce that correctly! The castle is beautiful and a highly underrated spot in Budapest. Apart from the lake, shame on whoever turned that into a parking lot. Vajdahunyad castle is a filming location for a bunch of things among others the witcher. Afterwards, we took the heroic march to the heroes’ square. At that point, it started raining, but that did not stop us from further exploring the city and seeking new adventures.
Late at night, we continued our journey towards Mordor with a historic experience. We took the night train build in 1991, which took us safely to Romania… On to our next quests here.
