Number of vaccines received: 9
Our adventure is drawing nearer every day. With that in mind, we have started focussing on the really important things. Consequently, we spent our last week doing a Lord of the Rings Marathon, a Harry Potter marathon and visiting our grandparents. During this visit, it became obvious once more that our whole family is just a set of adventurers and globetrotters. Our motivation to travel is literally encoded in our genes. To illustrate how this plays out:
We sat at dinner with our grandparents and our aunt and uncle, discussing our travel plans:
Uncle: are you also visiting Iran?
Sina: No, that's currently not on our itinerary.
Uncle: But it's really nice there! There are some truely intriguing cities!
Sina: The problem is that as two girls, we do not really feel safe there at the moment
Grandpa: PLEASE do not visit Iran right now!
Aunt: Oh, are you talking about Iran? It's really nice there, you should consider going there!
Grandpa: PLEASE don't go to Iran! It's not safe there for you at the moment
Sina: Don't worry Grandpa, it's not on our plan!
Grandpa: Please keep it that way!
Background: Our grandfather has four children, each of whom has taken many trips around the world with varying levels of risk. This includes among others a road trip from Germany to Sudan and a trip by train from Beijing to Bangkok. If someone mentions an interesting place to go, he is used to the response: oh yes, sounds great, let me go there. Hence, the worry.
We are also basically done with buying all the stuff we need for our trip. Everything is just waiting to be packed into our backpacks. Our vaccination programme is going great by the way. Our arms don't hurt at all despite the vaccines we got yesterday.
