Once upon a time, in a land where the mountains kissed the skies and the steppe extended as far as the eye could see, there existed two adventurous souls named Sina and Julia. These spirited travellers embarked on a remarkable journey to the enchanting lands of Bishkek and Karakol in the mystical realm of Kyrgyzstan.
Their escapade began on a crisp morning when they arose early to embark on a magical adventure. With hearts full of wanderlust and backpacks brimming with dreams, they embarked on a marshrutka to Taraz. The journey, though tight and filled with sandwich-making acrobatics, was adorned with breathtaking vistas of mountains and steppe dancing outside the window.
Crossing borders was but a fleeting moment as the world whizzed by. In Kordai, a benevolent stranger paid for their bus fare, kindness paving the way for their travels. Arriving in Bishkek, their souls filled with hunger for exploration, they indulged in Uyghur cuisine that tantalized their taste buds.

Days unfurled like the pages of a storybook. In Bishkek, they wandered through bustling bazaars, savoured local delicacies, and sought refuge in cafes with steaming cups of hot chocolate. But travel fatigue, an inevitable companion, nudged them to seek solace in a cosy hostel.
Their journey continued to Karakol, a city veiled in mystery and allure. The duo wandered its streets, immersing themselves in its culture and savouring Ashlan fu for dinner, a local delicacy that satisfied their hunger.
The following day in Karakol greeted them with rain, coaxing them to linger in the cosy confines of their hostel. Yet, hunger beckoned, leading them to indulge in local delights like Lagman and pumpkin mantis.
Eager for adventure, they embarked on a quest for hot springs in Ak suu, navigating through snowy mountains and inadvertently celebrating the onset of Christmas spirit with impromptu snowmen named Monsieur Lagman and Madame Ganfan.
Their return to Karakol was marked by a dinner of Oromo, soup, and Beshbarmak, where they joyously crafted their Christmas playlist, ensnared by the spirit of the approaching festive season.
However, fate had a twist in store during their journey back to Bishkek. The marshrutka, which had been smoothly coursing along for hours, suddenly began to decelerate. With around an hour and a half left to reach their destination, their peaceful journey took an unexpected turn.
As the vehicle slowed to a halt beside the highway, an air of uncertainty settled among the passengers. The once-bustling marshrutka now found itself stranded, prompting fellow travellers to abandon ship, hopping into passing marshrutkas one by one. Sina and Julia found themselves among the last few remaining passengers in their stalled transport.
A stroke of fortune arrived when another marshrutka offered assistance, towing their stalled vehicle a few kilometres further. However, their newfound hope was short-lived. They were instructed to disembark and transfer their luggage to the rescuer marshrutka. But here arose a dilemma: there was space for only one more passenger in this lifeline marshrutka.
Without much time to deliberate, Sina was instructed to board the other marshrutka, while Julia stayed with the luggage in the first one. They realized their predicament a few moments later: Julia held all the passports and their bulky backpacks, while Sina carried all the money, sustenance, and Julia's second earphone. Moreover, they had no means of communication in this digitally disconnected moment.
Yet, the universe conspired in their favour, aligning their paths mere meters apart. Together, they braved the challenge, reunited, and found sanctuary in a cozy Airbnb, a respite before their escapades resumed.
Their abode in Bishkek became a haven—a place to rest, rejuvenate, and craft new tales of their remarkable adventures. With the promise of three days to pause, reflect, and weave their memories into stories, Sina and Julia prepared for the next chapter of their odyssey.
And so, dear readers, as the travellers rest and the stars twinkle above, the tale of Sina and Julia’s expedition through the enchanting lands of Bishkek and Karakol finds a temporary lull, awaiting the adventures yet to be written in their travelogue of life.
